About MCRG
Monifieth Community Resource Group (MCRG) is the organisation behind the development and operation of Monifieth Activity Centre.
Mission
MCRG's mission is to provide a fit for purpose community resource for the benefit of Monifieth’s 8,000+ residents. MCRG’s goal is to build a sustainable, stronger and more resilient community as a result of:
developing and operating this community managed asset;
developing our residents through training, volunteering, and employment;
addressing disadvantage and inequality and social isolation;
improving the health and wellbeing of our community;
giving our residents access to vital facilities, social support, leisure and recreational activities that have been denied to the community of Monifieth for too long.
Format
MCRG is a registered SCIO charity SC035617 and began life as a subcommittee of the Community Council well over a decade ago. The Board of Trustees are subject to a rolling member vote on an annual basis and recruit other members from the community with special and particular expertise as they are identified.
Our monthly meetings are open to the public and we engage in community activities some of which we organise; Monifieth Gala Day, Christmas Lights Switch On, pub quizzes, craft fairs, bingo nights etc. Could you help? PR, legal, fundraising, marketing, accounts specialist input etc. and volunteers for any public events all very welcome. Please do get in contact and help Monifieth get the best outcomes possible.
Professional staff are also employed to operate the MAC (Centre Manager, Cafe Manager, etc) and there are also opportunities for volunteering.
Track Record
In 2012 MCRG took over a Council portacabin which was scheduled for demolition, refurbished it, ran it as a community facility - "The Cabin" - for over a decade, with great success.
We have also brought the project to develop a new purpose built community centre to fruition, with the new Monifieth Activity Centre being to the public since early January 2025.
